3 Reasons To Visit Western New York

Posted on 2020-12-142021-03-22 by WebEditor

When mentioning New York as a vacation destination, many people immediately think of the glitz and glamour of New York City. As it turns out, however, there is plenty to do on the other side of the state. Western New York may not feature the bright lights of the Big Apple, but it does offer an equally exciting mix of history, culture and natural splendor. Here are some locations to consider on your next trip to the Empire State.

Historical Sites

Western New York is heaven for history buffs. Rochester is home to the National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House, which celebrates the life and work of perhaps America’s greatest women’s rights leader. There, visitors can experience the home where Anthony lived, as well as the site of her arrest following her voting in the 1872 Presidential Election. In Buffalo, you may elect to tour the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site, where the nation’s 26th president took the oath of office in 1901.

Cultural Attractions

If you love fine arts, you may as well begin searching for hotels and motels Niagara Falls NY and the surrounding area. The Burchfield Penney Art Center is the world’s leading repository for the works of Charles Burchfield, an American painter renowned for his watercolor portrayals of cityscapes and nature scenes, and also contains an impressive collection of works by regional artists. Another must-see location is the Darwin D. Martin House, considered one of legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s greatest accomplishments.

Nature Parks

No trip to Western New York would be complete without a visit to Niagara Falls State Park. Spanning hundreds of acres, the park is home to three amazing waterfalls and offers an abundance of hiking and biking trails and scenic vistas. If you have a green thumb, you will love touring the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens.

Vacations are intended to make memories, and that’s what awaits those visiting Western New York. Be sure to include these destinations on your next trip.
