How to Have a No-Tech Family Beach Vacation

Posted on 2021-05-22 by WebEditor

If you’re ready to ditch the electronics and have some old-fashioned family time, then it’s time to consider how you pack for the family vacation. The beach is an ideal location for your low-tech or no-tech trip, offering an outdoor playground ready to be enjoyed. Look for North Carolina beachfront rentals that are available, and then start packing. You may need to bring a bit more, but the personal time is worth it. Here are several essential items to have on hand.

  1. Board Games and Puzzles

While the sand and water are attractive and are likely to keep you busy, you may desire some downtime inside. Fingers are going to itch for a phone or tablet. To say no to even the tv, have some engaging games and puzzles on hand. Pick one or two for each day. If you’re short on time, pack a deck of cards.

  1. Small Outdoor Activities

Don’t skip out on the yard or sand fun. Have footballs, volleyball and frisbees. If you hit up the local department store, you may see some paddle tennis items too. These are good for the evening cooler hours when you’re in between swimming and bed.

  1. Books

Dedicate an hour or so to personal time. People deserve a break. Reading a book is a good way during this time to keep people entertained and busy. Pack two books for each person. Little kids might take 20 minutes to browse through their favorite picture books. Coloring books work well here too. While you read, the toddler may color next to you.

  1. Sandcastle Building Materials

At least once during the week, have a major sandcastle building competition. Divide the family into teams, allowing each group to design something special. Snap pictures, and go big. Be sure to have several buckets and shovels, each of different sizes.

  1. Boogie Boards

The waves are fun to jump. A boogie board allows for a new dimension of that joy. Paddle over the waves, and ride one into shore. It’s an easier version of surfing that novices may enjoy. It’s likely to keep kids busy for the afternoon hours.

  1. Paper and Pen

Write stories, play hangman or encourage kids to make a comic book about. As you head to restaurants or need a break, the paper is nearby to distract and engage.

When you get back home, you can return to technology. During the vacation, enjoy each other with some activities and games. Pack to keep busy! The more you bring, the more you have to do!
